My Top 10 Must-Haves Japanese Beauty Brands

in Our Blog & News

I’ll like to share some honest reviews of a beauty product haul I did last 2 months during MCO phase. I spent around RM500++ on skincare products and I found some products I absolutely LOVED.

So.. RM500++ on just skincare products?! Omg, what did I have just done to my wallet?! 😭

One of my resolutions for this year is to finish up the products I already own and repurchase the products I use the most. It’s quality over quantity this time. Although I don’t quite manage to stop buying lip products yet…Here’s a few things that I manage to haul in the past 2 months (and absolutely love!)

1) Mejikaliner Double Eyelid Glue | 2ml, MYR53

I used to study in Japan back then, that was when I found out about this double eyelid glue. You might think it’s weird haha I know, but it exists and works pretty wonders on your eyelids, trust me. I think Japanese most double eyelid products are kinda good as most of my Japanese friends, their double eyelids look perfectly natural to me, though.

Eager to try one, i actually bought this online to try it on my sister's eyelids. Luckily i have my dad's gene so i have double eyelids while my sister looks exactly the same as mom. 😁

Mejikaliner is considered as one of the famous double eyelid glue in Japan. You can apply it before sleeping too. (Some people also use it before makeup next morning.) Please be mindful that this product is not for creating permanent double eyelids, but instead works temporarily in instant. Try it! You won’t regret, at least it makes my sister so happy!

2) Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV Sunscreen PA++++ | 40g, MYR38

It comes with a cute packaging too!

You know the deal when I say I take my sunscreens seriously. I mean, I’ve tried many kinds of sunscreens in cream and gel based form, but I never stick around to one brand. However, CANMAKE from Japan is truly an exception.

Can you notice the glow finish on my hand? <3

The product has a pale yellowish appearance, once work onto the skin, it appears into a translucent finish and this is definitely beneficial if you're a makeup wearer as it won't alter the shade of your foundation. This sunscreen is also good for people of colour as it leaves a very minimal white cast. Unlike my previous sunscreens, this one doesn’t have that sticky kind of feeling to the skin, and the absorption rate is quite fast despite of its full skin conditioning agents (with no alcohol). I like how it sits under my makeup as the base, and it does leaves a ‘glowy’ finish on my skin that diminishes over the day, and is very slightly sticky to the touch, but feels weightless and hydrating.

Will I repurchase?

OF COURSE! But this time, I’ll definitely gonna get 2 tubes (or more) coz one is never enough! 😤

3) LION Pair Acne Cream W Antibacterial Anti Acne Face Cream | 24g, MYR29.90

Honestly, I have tried many acne treatment creams that are available in the pharmacies, but none of them impressed me as much as the Lion Pair Medicated Acne Care Cream W.

Lion Pair Medicated Acne Care Cream W contains an amount of Ibuprofen Piconol (IPPN), which has anti-inflammatory effects, and is formulated with a PH close to the skin to prevent allergic reactions.

It has a cooling and calming effect on the skin, which aids in the relief of inflamed and red acne. I found a major change in my acne after just a few hours of application. In as little as two hours, it minimised swelling and redness! The acne has gone in just two days. Yeah, it really is awesome!

Although the cream is effective at treating acne, it does not fade acne scars. After all, this is not an acne scar treatment cream. Another thing I really like about the cream is that it is non-sticky or greasy. The texture of the cream is light and can be absorbed by skin easily. It becomes transparent once it is applied on skin, without leaving an ugly white residue.

All in all, I am quite happy with my purchase. Will I repurchase this product again? Yes, definitely!

4) DHC Medicated Lip Cream Lip Stick Lip Balm | 1.5g, MYR27

I raved about this lip balm so much on to all my friends, so when it came down to the last few millimeter of product, I went ahead and got myself a fresh new tube. What i really like about this DHC Medicated Lip Cream is that it really helps with dry and cracked lips. The texture is almost the same as Vaseline lip balm, so it does feels like you're applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly on your lips! I personally have tried using their lip balm, however, i feel like somehow this lip balm works best for my cracked lips.

This is definitely the best lip balm I have, and this beat all the more expensive and branded lip balms I have tried. One of the BEST purchase in life - worth every cents.

5) Japan Shiseido Moilip Medicated Lip Treatment Cream | 8g, MYR49

I really like the texture, it spreads out nicely on lips leaving my lips moisturized

Believe me when I say i have tried a lot of lip balm products from low to high end, but i always ended up using this one.

Few of the lip balms I’ve tried so far

I got to know about  this lip balm Moilip Shiseido Medicated Lip Treatment from my best friend who told me she had the same problem back then when she was in Japan after noticing my cracked and chaffed lips :( and she said that this lip balm has been her saviour & cured her lips in just few days!

Somehow I finally managed to get it online from Japan Premium -  and tested it out myself. Surprisingly, I no longer need to use lip balm so frequent now, my lips was completely healed - back to my normal lips - no skin peeling, no crack, no dry lips, it just my normal lips and I can use lip tint again!

I’d highly recommend it to anyone out there who is looking for a cost-effective and reliable lip treatment. When you know that the product is made from Japan, you know you're in good hands. 😉

    6) Loshi Moisture Skin Cream Horse Oil Moisturizing Cream For Face & Body | 220g, MYR22.50

To be honest, when I first learned about this product, I thought to myself,
"Horse Oil? Is it the horse fat? Does it smell like a horse?"

I bought a tub to test run the product and see if the rave runs true.

The scent: Unscented! That put my “oily horse smell” worries away.
The texture: It's like this gel type consistency. Very smooth and easy to apply on the skin.

It absorbs well into my skin and it feels like I’m not using any!

This big pack of 100% Japanese horse oil cream is blended with shea butter, glycerin, urea and Aloe Vera to deeply hydrate and revitalize dry skin.  It nourishes the skin from the inside out and helps in the reduction of scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. It's also suitable to use to all skin types.

I use this as a face and body moisturizer, hand cream, and on other body parts that need moisture especially on my elbow and heel part. It's really a winner especially when it can be used all over the body and in all seasons! This product is a must have for everyone who are looking for that perfect moisturizer and body cream

    7) Cezanne Lasting Gloss Lip 101 | MYR32

I have a lot of lipsticks now, but some of them are about to expire. So, for the time being, I'm hunting for lip products again. CEZANNE Lasting Gloss Lip is a lipgloss-like lipstick that glides on effortlessly.

The lipstick's texture makes it easy to apply and leaves my lips looking healthy and moisturised. Since it is kinda silky lipstick, you should be mindful that it will highlight any dry patches on your lips, so make sure you exfoliate them before applying it.

Overall, I really like this product. It’s a good price, it nice colour pay-off, is available in a variety of colours, lasts well and looks really pretty. I’ll definitely buy more in other colours!

    8) Hidaka Point Konbu Hair Colour Stick Grey Hair Concealer Dark Brown Colour | 20g, MYR50

To be honest, I have a lot of grey hair so I often need to use a hair dye to conceal those whites instantly. I tried another hair dye stick called TRU TONE, but it was really drying and sticky, so I didn't like it.

However, Hidaka Point Konbu Hair Color Stick is an exception. Since it’s a pen-type applicator, it’s really easy to use it. I can just apply it quickly in the morning and go out immediately without having to spend some time layering my grey noticeable hair.

You can just apply it on the hair parting - with no gloves or a cape needed! No need to rinse after application and no need to worry about your hands being stained. How easy!

    9) Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Gel | 180ml, MYR39.90

Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioning Lotion |500ml, MYR33.90

    Hypoallergenic. No colorant. No fragrance.

    Always my favourite go-to toner.

Texture-wise, this is a true gel moisturizer and melts into the skin like nothingness and is exactly like the original skin conditioner, just in a gel form! With all those amino acids in the coix seed extract in both items, my skin is certainly more hydrated.

Overall, I do love the skin conditioning gel as much as the skin conditioner. But, do you really need both? It’s up to you..  It is obviously more reliant on your needs and whether you see yourself using this as a toner or a moisturiser with slightly higher hydration levels. I'd say get both, but my practical side says it's up to you and your needs because they both work admirably.

Get it like NOW. Change your life for the better.

P/S: Toner is commonly called as a lotion in Japan. While Westerners used the beauty term toner for lotion. Mind blown? Yes. 🤯

    10) Utena Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Mask |190ml, MYR99.90

Utena Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Lotion |33g (3packs), MYR39.90

This is honestly one of my holy-grail product that I will always keep restocking when they’re on sale. ALWAYS! I’ve been using UTENA Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Mask for a while now, and recently, I’m intrigued to use their lotion too! Surprisingly, combining the two products tends to improve my skin's hydration and radiance.

I freaking love their luxurious golden gel lotion texture as it has gold flakes in it, and the scent is very mild you feel like there is no fragrance at all. It’s so soothing and calming on the skin. The lotion absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving a smooth, velvety finish. Don't worry, it's not sticky, slippery, or tingly at all. I have sensitive skin, and it suits my skin very well.

FUN FACT: Did you know using UTENA Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Lotion together with Golden Jelly Mask can boost skin's moisture content by up to 120%. WHOAHHH!! I’m so gonna stick to this brand until I get bored!(hopefully I won’t!) It works wonder on my skin, how about yours?

Have you tried any of these products?

I bought mine from Japan Premium. They are now selling the products for a relatively decent price. Another option would be Dokodemo, a Japanese platform that I haven’t tried personally. Amazon & Shopee marketplace also carry  these items  from time to time, but I’ve no idea how reliable the sellers are, so I would always go back to buying from the only source that I trust, which offers the cheapest price among the rest.

Hurry and get your all these 10  products now with free shipping for purchases above RM100! Available only at Japan Premium online store ❤️❤️
